Taita Hills sanctuary is privately owned and only 220 kms from Mombasa,the sanctuary borders both Tsavo West and Lumo sanctuary.it hosts a wide variety of wildlife like the Maasai giraffe, Cape buffalo, Impalas, Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Lesser kudu, dik dik, Thomson gazelle, Water bucks, Elephants and a large diversity of wildlife.
Day 1: Mombasa – Tsavo East
Pick up from the Coastal hotel or Airport in the morning and head to Tsavo East national park, a drive of 3- 4 hours depending on the location of the camp /lodge. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya being the home to most of the large mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk(giraffe gazelle).check in and stay at Ashnil Aruba, or Sentrim Hotel or Voi Safari Lodge at full board. At 16:00hrs head out for afternoon game viewing within the park.
Day 2 : Tsavo east – Taita Hills Sanctuary
Start the day with early morning game drive at Tsavo east before the main breakfast, this time of the day is always promising as most animals are in their active life, most cats like cheetahs, lions, serval cats and even the wild dogs and the black backed jackals can be spotted during this cool hours of the day, after the main breakfast check out at around 09:00 hrs and head out to Taita hills sanctuary for check in and a night overstay at Taita hills or Taita saltlick. At 16:00hrs head out for afternoon game drive within the sanctuary.
Day 3: Taita Hills Sanctuary – Amboseli
Early morning game drive within the sanctuary before breaking for the main breakfast at around 08:00 hrs, later check out to head north west to Amboseli arriving after 3 hrs drive ready for check in and lunch, after a short rest start the afternoon game drive at 16:00 hrs with large herds of elephants moving out of the swamp to both east or west of the marsh, this time is perfect time for photography with Kilimanjaro on the horizon. Overstay at either AA lodge, or Oltukai lodge or Kibo Tented camp or Sentrim Amboseli.
Day 4: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha
After breakfast check out and head to Naivasha a drive of 5 hrs Via Nairobi through the beautiful scenery of kenyas rift valley to this beautiful fresh lake laying at the floor of the rift valley, check in for lunch with an option of taking a boat to the Crescent highland or vising the gorge at the Hells gate National park.Over stay at Simba Lodge or Lake Naivasha Country club.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara
Start the day with early breakfast, later check out and head south west to Masai mara through the maasai plains arriving after 5 hrs ready for check in and lunch, after a few hrs of rest head out for the big game at 16:00 hrs within the park which is never disappointing for its rich wildlife, this is the home for big cats and mammals and abundant birds life and the seventh wonder of wildebeest migration at Mara river. Overstay at the lodge/camp.
Day 6 : Maasai Mara
After early morning breakfast leave with packed picnic lunch and spend the day exploring this animal haven, this gives you a chance to cover a vast area of the park including the Mara river, later on your third day visit the Maasai cultural village for traditional dance and rich history about this community, there after return to the camp for relaxation and overstay until your next day.
Day 7 : Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After morning breakfast check out and drive back to Nairobi arriving after 5 hrs. For lunch at carnivore restaurant (only for those who request for barbecue), later transferred to your respective hotel or transfer to Airport to catch your flight home.
